Tail of the Tucker

Was Preston Tucker’s automobile so far ahead of its time that the public couldn’t accept it?  Or was he driven out of business by Detroit’s Big 3?

Image Description

The view of Preston Tucker’s personal car that others on the roads around Chicago would see in the early 1950s.  This is no. 31 of 51 produced.  It starred in the 1988 movie “Tucker: the Man and His Dream”, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, with Jeff Bridges in the lead role.  From the mid-50s until 2011 when the car was displayed at the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance, except for being on the closed movie set, this car was never seen in public.  You could own a Tucker today (not this one) for somewhere in the low-mid 7 figures, or you could own this image on gallery-wrapped canvas, if you claim one of the 31 that will ever be issued.  (Image no. 1 resides with the artist’s daughter-in-law’s cousin, who owns the vehicle depicted.)  Signed, numbered Certificate of Authenticity accompanies your art.
