Inspired by the design of the P-38 Lightning twin boom fighter plane of World War II, Cadillac designers placed their taillights in fins protruding gracefully from the rear fenders of the automobile. Here the postwar Cadillac is parked on the San Diego Embarcadero, with the U.S.S. Midway, first aircraft carrier commissioned after the end of the war, in the background. While P-38s never flew from carrier decks, the juxtaposition of the finned Caddy and more modern planes above ties these two totally disparate modes of transportation inexorably together. Edition limited to 49 on gallery-wrapped canvas, ready to hang, no frame needed. Signed, numbered Certificate of Authenticity included. Low numbers available.
