Image #21 - Charge - 3x1

While the current Charger Hemi engine has been in production since 2003, the first generation of the 426 Hemi elephant motor was discontinued many years ago. When was the last of the original 426s produced?

Image Description

The 426 hemi was gone by 1972, but you could still order a 440 wedge in the amazingly sexy Charger SE body. If you wanted to get any serious power out of it though, you’d have to find a way to squeeze a six-pack out of the factory or dealer, and then start in on that new smog stuff the gummint had mandated. In the right light, the gold metallic looked a little bronzey, a little orangey … but not like the Hemi Orange paint that was still available. (Mopar kept the ‘Hemi’ paint option but not the engine. Shame on them.)  Image is infused onto aluminum, ready to hang. Limited edition of 72 of course. Numbered Certificate of Authenticity included, signed by the artist.
