Chevrolet was really onto something with its SSR steel-top convertible trucklet. The theory: guys who like to haul stuff might also like to put the top down. But the vehicle wasn’t as successful as GM had hoped — they sold just 24,000 from 2003 to 2006. We think the problem was the styling: part retro, part funk. So we’ve customized it and gone all retro, using parts from our fave, the ’47 Caddy convertible. We call it the Cadolet, and here it is in front of the San Diego County Administration Building, a gorgeous pre-war WPA creation. We’ll build a real one for you if you like winning lots of rod & custom awards, or you can have this rendering on gallery-wrapped canvas for just a fraction of the cost. Ready to hang. One of no more than 24. Certificate of Authenticity included.
